Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Household and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite fell 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Lavipharm SA (AT:LPHr), which rose 4.81% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.92 at the close. Piraeus Port (AT:OLPr) added 2.50% or 0.65 points to end at 26.60 and Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) was up 2.33% or 0.40 points to 17.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT:HEPr), which lost 6.49% or 0.54 points to trade at 7.78 in late trade. Jumbo SA (AT:BABr) declined 4.02% or 1.10 points to end at 26.24 and Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr) shed 3.50% or 0.09 points to 2.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 56 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.64% or 15.25 to $2,383.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.74% or 0.60 to hit $82.01 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.32 to trade at $84.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.75.
