Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 4.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Ellaktor (AT:HELr), which rose 18.06% or 0.280 points to trade at 1.830 at the close. Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) added 12.33% or 0.18 points to end at 1.64 and Alpha Bank (AT:ACBr) was up 11.15% or 0.030 points to 0.299 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dromeas (AT:DROr), which lost 25.37% or 0.034 points to trade at 0.100 in late trade. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) declined 9.09% or 0.021 points to end at 0.210 and Nireus Aqua (AT:NIRr) shed 7.22% or 0.007 points to 0.090.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 64 to 18 and 1 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.23% or 26.20 to $1201.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $57.06 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.88% or 0.57 to trade at $64.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.17% to 1.0893, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.7154.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 96.86.
