Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retail, Utilities and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 3.12% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Sidenor (AT:SID), which rose 30.00% or 0.162 points to trade at 0.702 at the close. Elval (AT:VAL) added 16.51% or 0.18 points to end at 1.27 and Ellaktor (AT:HELr) was up 9.89% or 0.180 points to 2.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iaso (AT:IASr), which lost 8.44% or 0.059 points to trade at 0.640 in late trade. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 3.10% or 0.03 points to end at 0.97 and Motor Oil (AT:MORr) shed 2.50% or 0.20 points to 7.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 18 and 4 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 2.51% or 30.40 to $1179.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.19% or 0.11 to hit $58.69 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.29 to trade at $66.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP rose 1.01% to 0.7280.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.07.
