Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Retail and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.86% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which rose 13.38% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.161 at the close. Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 8.11% or 0.009 points to end at 0.120 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 7.14% or 0.070 points to 1.050 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which lost 3.91% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.43 in late trade. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 3.00% or 0.03 points to end at 0.97 and Public Power (AT:DEHr) shed 2.53% or 0.08 points to 3.08.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 68 to 31 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.53% or 6.75 to $1268.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.76% or 0.35 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.09% or 0.52 to trade at $47.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1392, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.7869.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 93.98.
