Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food, Construction and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elval (AT:VAL), which rose 9.70% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.47 at the close. Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) added 9.38% or 0.003 points to end at 0.035 and Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) was up 8.90% or 0.13 points to 1.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which lost 16.99% or 0.09 points to trade at 0.43 in late trade. J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) declined 9.74% or 0.038 points to end at 0.352 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) shed 8.20% or 0.005 points to 0.056.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 54 to 31 and 8 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.56% or 6.10 to $1096.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.94% or 0.42 to hit $44.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.65 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0938, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.7071.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 97.83.
