Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Travel and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.85% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr), which rose 25.45% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.069 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) added 9.90% or 0.0200 points to end at 0.2220 and Public Power (AT:DEHr) was up 5.04% or 0.20 points to 4.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which lost 10.00% or 0.023 points to trade at 0.207 in late trade. Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) declined 4.40% or 0.43 points to end at 9.34 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 4.24% or 0.005 points to 0.113.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 51 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.46% or 5.61 to $1224.51 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.54% or 0.73 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.53% or 0.77 to trade at $50.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.0873, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.8442.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 99.47.
