Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Retail and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 10.00% or 0.0800 points to trade at 0.8800 at the close. Halcor (AT:XAKO) added 9.96% or 0.026 points to end at 0.287 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) was up 7.76% or 0.009 points to 0.125 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reds (AT:CAMr), which lost 10.00% or 0.041 points to trade at 0.369 in late trade. Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) declined 2.30% or 0.040 points to end at 1.700 and Iaso (AT:IASr) shed 1.71% or 0.007 points to 0.403.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 57 to 31 and 15 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 5.95 to $1354.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.39% or 1.12 to hit $47.91 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.28% or 0.64 to trade at $50.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.8610.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 94.29.
