Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Insurance and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which rose 18.25% or 0.071 points to trade at 0.460 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) added 6.00% or 0.030 points to end at 0.530 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was up 4.35% or 0.100 points to 2.400 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 5.43% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.122 in late trade. Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) declined 4.29% or 0.030 points to end at 0.670 and Hygeia (AT:HYGr) shed 4.24% or 0.007 points to 0.157.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 52 to 36 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.70 to $1272.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $48.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $49.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1270, while EUR/GBP fell 1.42% to 0.7712.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 94.75.
