Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Chemicals and Food sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 0.12% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which rose 9.52% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.115 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 5.79% or 0.031 points to end at 0.566 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) was up 4.17% or 0.0070 points to 0.1750 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elton S.A. (AT:ELNr), which lost 5.88% or 0.055 points to trade at 0.880 in late trade. Select Textile (AT:EPIr) declined 4.84% or 0.006 points to end at 0.118 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) shed 3.85% or 0.028 points to 0.700.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 46 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.05 to $1316.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.48% or 1.11 to hit $43.59 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.41% or 1.13 to trade at $45.76 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1191, while EUR/GBP fell 0.91% to 0.8416.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 95.65.
