Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Intralot (AT:INLr), which rose 13.17% or 0.108 points to trade at 0.928 at the close. Attica Bank SA (AT:BOAr) added 6.64% or 0.018 points to end at 0.289 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 6.29% or 0.0500 points to 0.8450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr), which lost 5.56% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.510 in late trade. European Reliance General Insurance Co SA (AT:EREr) declined 3.68% or 0.140 points to end at 3.660 and Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) shed 2.41% or 0.045 points to 1.820.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 38 and 21 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.15% or 1.90 to $1300.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.07% or 1.38 to hit $68.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.27% or 1.71 to trade at $77.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.72% to 1.1619, while EUR/GBP rose 0.52% to 0.8752.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 94.30.
