Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.30% to hit a new 5-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr), which rose 5.64% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.22 at the close. Intracom Holdings SA (AT:INRr) added 5.31% or 0.16 points to end at 3.17 and Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) was up 3.76% or 0.01 points to 0.37 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kri-Kri Milk (AT:KRIr), which lost 2.77% or 0.45 points to trade at 15.80 in late trade. Ellaktor SA (AT:HELr) declined 2.20% or 0.05 points to end at 2.22 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 2.16% or 0.04 points to 1.72.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 46 and 20 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.59% or 15.86 to $2,688.26 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.01% or 0.74 to hit $74.06 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.76 to trade at $76.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 109.01.
