Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Construction and Travel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr), which rose 3.65% or 0.90 points to trade at 25.58 at the close. Profile Syst (AT:PRFr) added 2.21% or 0.10 points to end at 4.62 and Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) was up 2.10% or 0.04 points to 2.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elastron SA (AT:ELSRr), which lost 2.77% or 0.06 points to trade at 2.11 in late trade. Titan Cement International SA (AT:TITCr) declined 2.50% or 0.75 points to end at 29.25 and Biokarpet Industrial and Commercial Enterprises SA (AT:ALBr) shed 2.09% or 0.05 points to 2.34.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 73 to 46 and 16 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.22% or 5.05 to $2,341.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.51% or 0.41 to hit $81.12 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.48 to trade at $85.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.80.
