Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction, Travel and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Athens Medical (AT:AMCr), which rose 8.58% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.64 at the close. Ekter (AT:EKTr) added 3.06% or 0.14 points to end at 4.55 and Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT:ELHA) was up 2.61% or 0.05 points to 1.89 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BriQ Properties REIC (AT:BRIQr), which lost 4.57% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.88 in late trade. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 4.28% or 0.02 points to end at 0.38 and Intracom Holdings SA (AT:INRr) shed 2.93% or 0.11 points to 3.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 60 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.68% or 15.75 to $2,342.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.56% or 0.44 to hit $78.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.47 to trade at $82.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.03% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.26% at 103.87.
