Proactive Investors - New research from Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) suggests that generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems could potentially impact around 300 million full-time jobs globally.
Generative AI creates text or other content based on user prompts and has gained significant popularity after the public launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Goldman researchers analysed data on occupational tasks in the US and Europe.
According to the report by Joseph Briggs and Devesh Kodnani, roughly two-thirds of current jobs face some degree of AI automation, while generative AI could replace up to a quarter of existing work.
White-collar professionals, particularly US legal workers and administrative staff, are among the most vulnerable.
The findings align with a previous study by researchers from Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University, which also identified the legal services industry as the most susceptible to technology like ChatGPT.
