Investing.com - U.K. equities started mixed on Thursday, with rises and falls, the most notable gains being the Aerospace & Defense, Beverages, Industrial Metals & Mining and Industrial Transportation sectors, while the most notable fallers were the Gas Water & Multiutilities, Chemicals and Tobacco sectors.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index climbed slightly 0.05%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also increased. The FTSE 250 added 0.25%, while the FTSE 350 increased by 0.15%.

- Burberry Group (LON:BRBY): Rose 1.36% or 14.0 points to 1,041.0
- Melrose Industries (LON:MRON): Climbed 1.14% or 7.20 points to 637.00

- Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD): Fell 5.79% or 4.434 points to 72.206
- National Grid (LON:NG): Dropped 4.17% or 37.60 points to 864.00
- WPP (LON:WPP): Declined 3.93% or 31.71 points to 774.89
In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for August delivery rose 11.15 points to 2,386.65 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for July delivery added 0.58 points to 74.65 a barrel.
- August Brent Oil Contract up with 0.66% or 0.52 points increase to 78.93 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD is cruising around 1.2790.
- EUR/GBP is also stable at 0.85.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.16
