Investing.com – U.K. equities started with losses on Wednesday. The top losers were Beverages, Gas Water & Multiutilities, Life Insurance and Industrial Transportation sectors. However, there were some sectors rising; Industrial Metals & Mining, for example.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.20%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also fell. The FTSE 250 dropped 0.05%, while the FTSE 350 was down by 0.32%.
- EasyJet (LON:EZJ): Climbed 1.80% or 9.20 points to 519.20.
- Fresnillo (LON:FRES): Rose 1.58% or 9.45 points to 608.45.
- Rio Tinto (LON:RIO): Increased 1.21% or 61.0 points to 5,110.0.
- Prudential (LON:PRU): Declined 1.63% or 10.80 points to 654.00.
- Barclays (LON:BARC): Fell 1.46% or 3.30 points to 223.10.
- National Grid (LON:NG): Dropped 1.29% or 13.50 points to 1,031.00.
In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for December delivery rose 0.05 points to 2,677.05 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for November delivery fell 0.37 points to 71.19 a barrel.
- December Brent Oil Contract declined 0.40% or 0.30 points to 74.17 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD is at 1.3392 at the time of writing.
- EUR/GBP is trying to recover from some of the losses, at 0.8355 at the moment.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 100.080.
