Investing.com – U.K. equities started with losses on Friday, with falls in majority of sectors, the most notable ones being the Industrial Engineering, Aerospace & Defense, General Industrials and Financial Services.

At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index dropped 0.53%. The FTSE 250 Index and the FTSE 350 Index also declined. The FTSE 250 fell 0.67%, while the FTSE 350 was down by 0.52%.

Top Gainers:

  • IAG (LON:ICAG): Rose 4.51% or 7.21 points to 167.21
  • HALEON (LON:HLN): Climbed 1.03% or 3.70 points to 361.70
  • Smith & Nephew (LON:SN): Increased 1.21% or 14.50 points to 1,213.50

Top Losers:

  • Mondi (LON:MNDI): Fell 3.63% or 56.00 points to 1,485.50
  • Scottish Mortgage (LON:SMT): Declined 3.50% or 821.80 points to 821.80
  • Intermediate Capital (LON:ICGIN): Dropped 2.72% or 58.00 points to 2,074.00

In Commodities Trading:

  • Gold Futures for December delivery climbed 26.20 points to 2,507.00 a troy ounce.

  • October Brent Oil Contract rose 0.82% or 0.65 points to 80.17 a barrel.

Currency Markets:

  • GBP/USD extended its losses and is trying to stay at 1.2710.
  • EUR/GBP is cruising between the daily range of 0.8462-0.8493.
  • The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 104.109.
