Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Technology and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.22% or 0.610 points to trade at 19.555 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 1.70% or 1.05 points to end at 62.65 and Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) was up 1.55% or 0.72 points to 47.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 3.38% or 2.08 points to trade at 59.37 in late trade. Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) declined 2.28% or 1.81 points to end at 77.70 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 2.22% or 0.31 points to 13.68.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which rose 4.72% to 12.205, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 3.22% to settle at 19.555 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 1.91% to close at 41.16.
The worst performers were Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was down 5.01% to 11.190 in late trade, Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which lost 4.41% to settle at 141.05 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 3.83% to 44.84 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 396 to 224 and 88 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.78% to 14.80 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.08% or 1.02 to $1247.42 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.89% or 0.82 to hit $44.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.95% or 0.90 to trade at $46.94 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.17% to 1.1312, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.8849.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.79% at 96.34.
