Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.15% to hit a new 6-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP), which rose 4.85% or 1.67 points to trade at 36.12 at the close. Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) added 4.33% or 2.16 points to end at 52.08 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 4.19% or 3.92 points to 97.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which lost 13.70% or 5.08 points to trade at 31.96 in late trade. Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) declined 8.66% or 1.58 points to end at 16.69 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) shed 7.49% or 3.56 points to 43.99.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Remy Cointreau (EPA:RCOP) which rose 5.33% to 73.15, Air France KLM SA (EPA:AIRF) which was up 5.20% to settle at 8.33 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) which gained 4.85% to close at 36.12.
The worst performers were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA) which was down 13.70% to 31.96 in late trade, Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) which lost 8.66% to settle at 16.69 and Ipsen SA (EPA:IPN) which was down 8.65% to 101.40 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 357 to 148 and 81 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.39% or 57.65 to $2,358.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.72% or 0.56 to hit $78.15 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.24 to trade at $81.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 104.00.
