Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.86%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 7.55% or 0.309 points to trade at 4.400 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 6.70% or 0.72 points to end at 11.54 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 5.12% or 2.06 points to 42.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 0.62% or 0.09 points to trade at 14.42 in late trade. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) declined 0.48% or 0.07 points to end at 14.59 and Airbus Group (PA:AIR) shed 0.48% or 0.25 points to 51.48.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which rose 7.55% to 4.400, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 6.87% to settle at 30.71 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which gained 6.70% to close at 11.54.
The worst performers were Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which was down 3.24% to 25.425 in late trade, Groupe Eurotunnel (PA:GETP) which lost 1.14% to settle at 9.441 and GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 1.13% to 27.09 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 173 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.72% to 23.16.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.34% or 17.75 to $1338.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.29% or 0.14 to hit $48.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $49.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 95.71.
