Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.75%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN), which rose 3.41% or 1.59 points to trade at 48.36 at the close. BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 1.94% or 0.86 points to end at 45.35 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 1.89% or 0.34 points to 18.34 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 1.35% or 0.72 points to trade at 52.58 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 1.06% or 0.059 points to end at 5.495 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) shed 0.69% or 0.47 points to 67.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) which rose 3.41% to 48.36, Euler Hermes (PA:ELER) which was up 2.73% to settle at 74.15 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 2.71% to close at 3.872.
The worst performers were Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 3.01% to 15.65 in late trade, Technip (PA:TECF) which lost 1.35% to settle at 52.58 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) which was down 1.06% to 5.495 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 401 to 241 and 115 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.98% to 18.56.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.54% or 7.15 to $1319.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.02% or 0.48 to hit $46.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 0.65 to trade at $48.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1148, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 96.01.
