American tech company, Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) announced Monday that Chinese electric automaker, Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) has chosen the NVIDIA DRIVE Thor centralized car computer to power its next-generation fleets.

NVIDIA also revealed the NVIDIA DRIVE Orin platform will be utilized by EV manufacturers GWM (Great Wall Motor), ZEEKR, and Xiaomi for their advanced intelligent automated-driving systems.

“The AI car computer of choice for today’s intelligent fleets is NVIDIA DRIVE Orin, with automakers increasingly looking to the advanced capabilities and AI performance of its successor, NVIDIA DRIVE Thor, for their future vehicle roadmaps.” Said Nvidia VP of automotive, Xinzhou Wu.

DRIVE Thor is an advanced onboard computer unit for cars, merging various smart functions into one AI platform. It enables self-driving, parking, monitoring passengers, and AI features in the car.

“The transportation industry is embracing centralized compute for highly automated and autonomous driving,” said Wu

Li Auto uses two DRIVE Orin processors for its AD Max assisted-driving system in L-series models. These processors deliver a combined 508 TOPS, enabling real-time processing of sensor data for full-scenario autonomous navigation, ADAS, lane change control (LCC), automated parking, and active safety functions like automatic emergency braking (AEB).

Shares of NVDA are up 4.99%, while LI trades down 0.75% in mid-day trading on Monday.
