Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.14% or 0.795 points to trade at 37.955 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 1.26% or 1.55 points to end at 125.05 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was up 1.07% or 1.15 points to 108.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (BR:ELI), which lost 1.02% or 0.450 points to trade at 43.600 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.79% or 0.20 points to end at 24.43 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.70% or 0.20 points to 28.32.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 56 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.35% or 4.30 to $1248.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.39% or 0.16 to hit $41.36 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.16 to trade at $41.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.25% to 1.1214, while EUR/GBP rose 0.88% to 0.7893.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 95.66.
