Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yieh Hsing Ent (TW:2007), which rose 10.00% or 0.47 points to trade at 5.17 at the close. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) added 9.94% or 0.17 points to end at 1.88 and Pec (TW:4916) was up 9.90% or 4.05 points to 44.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.15% or 0.26 points to trade at 2.58 in late trade. Shin Shin Nat (TW:9918) declined 7.16% or 2.45 points to end at 31.75 and Shuttle (TW:2405) shed 6.98% or 0.75 points to 10.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 472 to 277 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.56% or 0.65 to $41.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.34% or 0.59 to hit $43.59 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.07% or 13.30 to trade at $1235.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.20% to 32.411, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1996.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.04.
