Investing.com - U.K. equities started with gains on Thursday, with rises in majority of the sectors, the most notable ones being the Automobiles & Parts, Banks, Aerospace & Defense and Beverages sectors. Mining, Food Producers and General Retailers are some of the few declined.
At the market open in London, the FTSE 100 Index rose 0.65%. The FTSE 250 Index fell while the FTSE 350 Index increased. The FTSE 250 fell 0.07%, while the FTSE 350 climbed by 0.41%.

- Bunzl (LON:BNZL): Climbed 1.78% or 54.0 points to 3,086.0
- Barclays (LON:BARC): Rose 1.28% or 2.80 points to 220.95

- Next PLC (LON:NXT): Fell 1.58% or 144.0 points to 8,968.0
- Mondi (LON:MNDI): Declined 0.65% or 10.00 points to 1,532.00
- BT Group (LON:BT): Dropped 0.18% or 0.25 points to 137.80
In Commodities Trading:
- Gold Futures for August delivery declined 7.10 points to 2,362.30 a troy ounce.
- Crude Oil for August delivery fell 0.72 points to 83.16 a barrel.
- September Brent Oil Contract dropped 0.77% or 0.67 points 86.67 a barrel.
Currency Markets:
- GBP/USD is calm at 1.27 in the beginning of the election day.
- EUR/GBP is also stable at 0.84.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 104.977
