Proactive Investors - Creo Medical Group PLC (LON:CREO), the medical device company, revealed it welcomed Welsh labour leader Vaughan Gething to its design and manufacturing facilities on Monday.
Gething and his colleagues visited the site in Chepstow, Wales where he was shown the endoscopic surgical solutions being created by Creo Medical to help pre-cancer and cancer patients.
Creo’s technology can treat bowel, oesophagus, stomach, lung, pancreas and liver cancer while reducing the costs of traditional surgical procedures and limiting the wait times in hospitals.
Vaughan Gething, who is set to become the first minister of Wales later this week, was joined by Jo Stevens and Catherine Fookes, two Welsh-based Labour representatives.
It marks Gething’s second visit to Creo’s medical facility, the first coming in 2023 when he was economy minister.
Creo Medical has worked with the Welsh government to receive support through the Economy Futures fund, which helped create 85 jobs, increase the size of its facilities and pay for new equipment.
Wales’s Development Bank, the government-owned subsidiary, is invested in Creo and remains a significant shareholder.
Craig Gulliford, CEO at Creo, said: "Creo is a great example of a dynamic Welsh business at the very forefront of Medtech device innovation, developing pioneering surgical devices that are being rolled out globally, and transforming the way in which cancer can be treated.”
