Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Clean Technology, Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Denison Mines Corp (TSX:DML), which rose 17.65% or 0.30 points to trade at 2.00 at the close. Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:LAC) added 14.41% or 3.70 points to end at 29.37 and Cameco Corp (TSX:CCO) was up 13.20% or 3.51 points to 30.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX:DND), which lost 5.49% or 2.16 points to trade at 37.22 in late trade. Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) declined 5.32% or 8.77 points to end at 156.05 and Aritzia Inc (TSX:ATZ) shed 4.53% or 1.91 points to 40.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 543 to 515 and 92 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.34% or 5.95 to $1761.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.11% or 0.09 to hit $80.61 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.31 to trade at $83.34 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.17% to 0.8024, while CAD/EUR rose 0.36% to 0.6959.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 94.510.
