Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.79% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 4.21% or 0.66 points to trade at 16.32 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 3.02% or 0.16 points to end at 5.46 and Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) was up 2.87% or 0.18 points to 6.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which lost 6.11% or 0.50 points to trade at 7.68 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 5.27% or 0.37 points to end at 6.65 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) shed 4.72% or 0.06 points to 1.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 207 to 89 and 2 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 8.87% to 31.56.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 1.42% or 17.10 to $1187.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.25% or 1.34 to hit $58.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.30% or 2.92 to trade at $124.22 .
USD/BRL was up 1.68% to 3.1511, while EUR/BRL rose 0.73% to 3.4272.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 97.39.
