Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.13% or 0.46 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 2.21% or 0.94 points to end at 43.49 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 1.61% or 0.42 points to 26.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which lost 4.39% or 0.75 points to trade at 16.32 in late trade. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 4.31% or 0.27 points to end at 5.99 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) shed 3.60% or 0.63 points to 16.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 265 to 151 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.03% to 30.24.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.17% or 15.50 to $1335.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.48% or 0.30 to hit $62.27 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.15% or 0.18 to trade at $120.97 .
USD/BRL was down 1.03% to 3.2094, while EUR/BRL fell 0.47% to 3.9815.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 89.56.
