Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which rose 6.68% or 1.14 points to trade at 18.21 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) added 6.55% or 0.96 points to end at 15.61 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was up 5.06% or 0.40 points to 8.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 3.26% or 1.66 points to trade at 49.23 in late trade. Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) declined 1.75% or 0.11 points to end at 6.19 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 1.26% or 1.01 points to 79.33.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 320 to 162 and 28 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.17% to 44.98 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 3.80 to $1217.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.31% or 0.21 to hit $68.93 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.71% or 0.74 to trade at $105.62 .
USD/BRL was down 0.64% to 4.0784, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 4.7634.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 94.66.
