Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lwsa SA (BVMF:LWSA3), which rose 6.22% or 0.27 points to trade at 4.61 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) added 5.94% or 0.41 points to end at 7.31 and Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) was up 4.97% or 0.09 points to 1.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5), which lost 4.12% or 0.77 points to trade at 17.90 in late trade. Companhia de Saneamento Basico do Estado de Sao Paulo SABESP (BVMF:SBSP3) declined 0.88% or 0.69 points to end at 77.32 and Alpargatas SA (BVMF:ALPA4) shed 0.52% or 0.05 points to 9.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 514 to 412 and 61 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.32% to 27.59.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.71% or 16.80 to $2,392.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.01% or 1.49 to hit $75.56 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.55% or 1.28 to trade at $233.23 .
USD/BRL was down 0.83% to 5.25, while EUR/BRL fell 0.76% to 5.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 104.07.
