Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 1.71% or 0.615 points to trade at 36.480 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 1.13% or 1.65 points to end at 148.00 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) was up 0.91% or 0.77 points to 85.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.27% or 0.850 points to trade at 66.050 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 1.16% or 1.40 points to end at 118.80 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.99% or 0.30 points to 30.38.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 54 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.40% or 4.84 to $1224.04 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.08% or 0.04 to hit $47.11 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $49.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1345, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8782.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.01.
