Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.35% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 0.07% or 0.02 points to trade at 26.82 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) fell 0.31% or 0.12 points to end at 40.64 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was down 0.43% or 0.068 points to 15.594 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sofina (BR:SOF), which lost 4.01% or 5.60 points to trade at 134.00 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 4.01% or 3.860 points to end at 92.320 and Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) shed 2.86% or 2.70 points to 91.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.13% or 1.70 to $1339.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.12% or 0.73 to hit $64.72 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.50 to trade at $68.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.2412, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8856.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 89.36.
