Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.95% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 7.78% or 3.18 points to trade at 44.08 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 1.44% or 0.85 points to end at 59.95 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 0.92% or 0.40 points to 44.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 3.12% or 2.860 points to trade at 88.780 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 2.70% or 1.80 points to end at 64.92 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 2.44% or 1.820 points to 72.880.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 30 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1319.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 3.07% or 1.88 to hit $59.27 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.85% or 1.85 to trade at $62.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2218, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8865.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 90.39.
