Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.30% or 1.140 points to trade at 88.720 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 1.12% or 0.45 points to end at 40.76 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) was up 0.74% or 0.37 points to 50.12 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KBC (BR:KBC), which lost 2.68% or 1.820 points to trade at 66.180 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 2.09% or 0.270 points to end at 12.644 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) shed 1.56% or 0.24 points to 15.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 67 to 61 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.48% or 6.20 to $1303.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.20% or 0.13 to hit $64.88 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.44 to trade at $74.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1721, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8757.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 93.84.
