Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.28% or 0.51 points to trade at 40.43 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.14% or 0.04 points to end at 27.88 and UCB (BR:UCB) was down 0.27% or 0.18 points to 66.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.05% or 1.760 points to trade at 83.900 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.73% or 0.40 points to end at 22.70 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 1.61% or 0.58 points to 35.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 38 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.48% or 6.40 to $1327.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.14% or 0.70 to hit $60.66 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.52% or 0.34 to trade at $64.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.2400, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 89.62.
