Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 3.60% or 0.68 points to trade at 19.56 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.22% or 1.40 points to end at 116.45 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.78% or 0.10 points to 13.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI), which lost 1.65% or 1.51 points to trade at 90.27 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.40% or 0.30 points to end at 21.10 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.85% or 0.620 points to 72.380.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 58 to 49 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.71% or 9.30 to $1321.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.30% or 1.46 to hit $65.00 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.49% or 1.68 to trade at $69.10 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2264, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8711.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 89.78.
