Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.74% or 0.38 points to trade at 22.26 at the close. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) added 1.29% or 0.61 points to end at 48.00 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 0.83% or 0.95 points to 116.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which lost 2.34% or 0.56 points to trade at 23.39 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.98% or 0.82 points to end at 40.63 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) shed 1.58% or 0.78 points to 48.64.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 73 to 46 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 2.03% or 26.80 to $1291.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.41% or 0.29 to hit $70.67 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.63% or 0.49 to trade at $78.72 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1864, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 93.00.
