Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.56% or 1.42 points to trade at 41.28 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 1.35% or 0.18 points to end at 13.50 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.16% or 1.100 points to 96.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 2.47% or 0.35 points to trade at 13.80 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 1.38% or 0.30 points to end at 21.37 and Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) shed 1.16% or 1.01 points to 86.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 55 to 55 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1221.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.02% or 1.39 to hit $70.08 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.75 to trade at $75.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.1712, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8918.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 94.09.
