Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (EBR:PROX), which rose 1.64% or 0.11 points to trade at 6.50 at the close. Ageas (EBR:AGES) added 1.11% or 0.48 points to end at 43.82 and Sofina (EBR:SOF) was up 0.56% or 1.20 points to 215.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which lost 2.03% or 0.23 points to trade at 11.11 in late trade. Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR:WDPP) declined 1.29% or 0.32 points to end at 24.40 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) shed 0.93% or 0.75 points to 79.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 47 to 39 and 20 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.59% or 39.70 to $2,532.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.51% or 1.18 to hit $76.98 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 1.07 to trade at $79.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 102.54.
