Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 3.11% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 6.02% or 0.855 points to trade at 15.065 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 5.22% or 3.240 points to end at 65.280 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 5.01% or 0.64 points to 13.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.39% or 1.940 points to trade at 79.400 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.72% or 1.23 points to end at 70.35 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) gained 0.68% or 0.75 points to 110.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 34 and 7 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.04% or 13.45 to $1275.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.67% or 0.33 to hit $49.29 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.25 to trade at $52.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.14% to 1.0850, while EUR/GBP rose 1.42% to 0.8489.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.62% at 99.04.
