Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Industrials and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.29% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB), which rose 2.33% or 1.83 points to trade at 80.23 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 2.13% or 1.05 points to end at 50.32 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was up 2.00% or 0.31 points to 15.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elia (BRU:ELI), which added 0.03% or 0.010 points to trade at 38.630 in late trade. Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) added 0.18% or 0.08 points to end at 43.72 and Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) gained 0.39% or 0.50 points to 128.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 36 and 5 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.33% or 3.80 to $1143.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.33% or 0.17 to hit $51.24 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.22% or 0.12 to trade at $57.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.0884, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.6974.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 97.72.
