Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Software & Computers, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which rose 3.81% or 0.95 points to trade at 25.86 at the close. Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) added 1.28% or 0.57 points to end at 45.33 and Belgacom (BRU:BCOM) was up 1.20% or 0.39 points to 32.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which lost 2.89% or 1.070 points to trade at 35.910 in late trade. Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) declined 0.72% or 0.60 points to end at 82.88 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) shed 0.43% or 0.07 points to 16.79.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 98 to 69 and 6 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.07% or 0.90 to $1226.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.43% or 0.26 to hit $60.28 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.80% or 0.54 to trade at $66.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.94% to 1.1341, while EUR/GBP fell 0.60% to 0.7236.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 94.05.
