Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Beverage and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.43% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Argen-X (EBR:ARGX), which rose 3.46% or 14.40 points to trade at 430.40 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) added 2.51% or 2.05 points to end at 83.75 and Elia (EBR:ELI) was up 2.41% or 2.15 points to 91.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which lost 1.45% or 0.47 points to trade at 32.04 in late trade. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) declined 1.36% or 1.13 points to end at 81.95 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 0.31% or 0.08 points to 25.56.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 30 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.76% or 18.05 to $2,385.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.34% or 1.09 to hit $82.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.87 to trade at $85.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.37% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 104.73.
