Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.50% or 0.48 points to trade at 19.90 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.96% or 1.540 points to end at 79.940 and Argen-X (BR:ARGX) was up 1.68% or 1.20 points to 72.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 2.45% or 1.040 points to trade at 41.400 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.84% or 0.11 points to end at 13.01 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.40% or 0.260 points to 65.100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 45 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.14% or 14.10 to $1255.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $73.89 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $77.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1646, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8844.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 94.43.
