Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 2.55% or 0.53 points to trade at 21.35 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 2.15% or 0.28 points to end at 13.32 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 1.68% or 0.74 points to 44.74 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.52% or 2.320 points to trade at 89.900 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.38% or 0.60 points to end at 157.40 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 0.19% or 0.120 points to 64.180.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 61 to 43 and 23 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 3.40 to $1223.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.80% or 0.55 to hit $68.41 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.23 to trade at $73.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1591, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 94.88.
