Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Telecoms and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 3.13% or 0.34 points to trade at 11.20 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 2.74% or 0.68 points to end at 25.54 and Proximus NV (EBR:PROX) was up 2.16% or 0.14 points to 6.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aedifica (EBR:AOO), which lost 0.89% or 0.55 points to trade at 61.10 in late trade. Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) declined 0.69% or 3.30 points to end at 474.30 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) shed 0.19% or 0.15 points to 79.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 30 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 4.70 to $2,542.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.81% or 1.37 to hit $74.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.82% or 1.45 to trade at $78.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 101.81.
