Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate Investment, Gold and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Sai Global Ltd (AX:SAI), which rose 29.53% or 1.060 points to trade at 4.650 at the close. Whitehaven Coal Ltd (AX:WHC) added 7.71% or 0.185 points to end at 2.585 and APN Outdoor Group Ltd (AX:APO) was up 3.80% or 0.200 points to 5.470 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Orocobre Ltd (AX:ORE), which lost 3.30% or 0.120 points to trade at 3.520 in late trade. Sandfire Resources NL (AX:SFR) declined 2.89% or 0.160 points to end at 5.370 and Infigen Energy (AX:IFN) shed 2.73% or 0.023 points to 0.802.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 534 to 514 and 338 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 5.84% to 13.274.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.28% or 3.70 to $1338.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.88% or 0.39 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.42 to trade at $46.90 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.03% to 0.7624, while AUD/JPY fell 0.13% to 76.90.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 95.36.
