Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Media and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 2.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 8.68% or 0.99 points to trade at 12.39 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM) added 6.19% or 4.89 points to end at 83.89 and Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW) was up 5.20% or 15.05 points to 304.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which lost 2.26% or 0.39 points to trade at 16.90 in late trade. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 1.76% or 0.79 points to end at 44.11 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) shed 0.99% or 0.13 points to 13.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 315 to 219 and 117 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.39% or 1.09 to $46.63 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 3.00% or 1.45 to hit $49.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.50 to trade at $1133.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.03% to 4.2471, while USD/PLN rose 0.10% to 3.7973.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 96.20.
