On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, Gold futures for June delivery traded at USD1291.40 a troy ounce at time of writing rising 0.53%.
Earlier, it traded at a session high USD1293.40 a troy ounce. Gold was likely to find support at USD1278.10 and resistance at USD1299.10.
US Dollar Index, which tracks the performance of the greenback versus a basket of six other major currencies, rose 0.05% to trade at USD80.65.
Elsewhere on the Comex, Silver for May delivery rose 0.64% to trade at USD19.932 a troy ounce while Copper for May delivery rose 0.67% to trade at USD3.047 a pound.
